Coyote Progress

I am inching closer and closer to being done with "Coyote". I am getting close the end of my rough cut. After a few editing passes, I'll send it off to my beloved beta-readers. I think we are still a few weeks out from posting, but we are getting closer.

New song for the soundtrack: "Ghost Riders in the Sky" Johnny Cash is very inspirational.

Stair Luge Samurai

Hi there-

Still hard at work on "Coyote". However, I have posted a fluffy little one-shot that takes place between parts 2 and 3 on fanfiction.net. It is called "Stair Luge Samurai". Of course, it is BBRae, but Bart is a big player in this one too.

One-shot in the works

Hi there -

I am still working on "Coyote", but it is a little slow. It will definitely be past Halloween at this point when it gets posted. I have been fighting Writer's Block on this story, but I think I have gotten past that now.

In the meantime, as part of my battle against the demon Writer's Block, I have written a little one-shot that I should be posting next week. It takes place between parts 2 and 3, but it can also be read as a stand-alone story. It is a fluffy little piece called "Stair Luge Samurai" and features our favorite couple and Bart. Keep your eyes open for it.

Part 3 Progress: Coyote

Hello all -

I hope everyone is having a great day. I hope you enjoyed "Deeper". I am hard at work on "Coyote", which is part 3 in this 5-story arc. I have multiple chapters that are complete or nearly complete, but I am not sure that I am even close to halfway finished. I hope it is worth the wait. In the meantime, I'll do some more drawings when I get writer's block!

My writing soundtrack includes the following songs: "Hole in the World" by The Eagles, "I Alone" by Live, "Funkytown" by Lipps, Inc. (not because it applies to the story but just because when I hear it I type REALLY FAST), "Annabel" by Don Henley, "When the Lights Go Down" by Journey, "Hungry Like the Wolf" by Duran Duran (makes me think of Beast Boy), "The Clumsy Lover" by Brother . . . I'll write more down as I find them and listen to them.

Here is one of the kiss -- it does not match the illustration of chapter 9 of "Deeper" below, but I really liked it.

Oh! Now I remember. I am such a silly goose. This is the kiss from Chapter 8 (in the hyperbaric chamber). D'oh!

I would like to fix Beast Boy's ear. I don't like it.

Illustration: Many Loves of Raven

Here is another picture -- not related to any particular chapter. It is a contemplative Raven, remembering the men in her life: Kid Flash, that @#$% Eric Forrester, Jericho (ok, they didn't date, but she liked him), Nightwing (brief crush), and of course our beloved Gar. These are not tracings, but they are copies of the old school Perez style. I did vary Gar a little bit from the Perez style though. Let me know what you think.
I may re-do Jericho's hair and the @#$%'s mullet -- I'm not sure I like them . . .

Illustration: Just Beast Boy

Here's another picture that is not necessarily related to the story . . .it is an edited version of the picture below. I can't decide which is better (or worse) . . .

Deeper Illustrations

This is a pencil drawing I did to illustrate the flying scene in chapter 1. Again, a huge thanks to Mauser for reviewing the illustrations for me!

Deeper has been posted

Howdy -

I just posted Deeper. I got done with it sooner than I thought! Please let me know what you think!

Illustrations that already exist will be posted tomorrow . . . but it is late ... I turn into a pumpkin at midnight . . .

Illustration

Here is a pencil drawing that I did last night. It is not an illustration of Deeper, but it was a nice break from editing. This is a Raven (Perez era) with a baby dragon (and yes, it is a green dragon, for my fellow BB/Rae shippers). I'd like to redraw her face -- her eyes are too small and her nose is too large. But I do like the way it turned out. What do you think?

DragonCon in Atlanta coming up

Hello everybody. Here is a picture of me at home, so you know what I look like.

Wow! I just found out that Marv Wolfman himself will be attending DragonCon on Labor Day weekend! I am looking forward to meeting the creator of the Titans!

I would like to say a special thank you to Mauser on the fanfiction.net site for reviewing the illustrations for me. He has spent some time on this, and I am grateful. He's making a lot of great suggestions! I can't wait too post them! Thank you Mauser! (Cries of "I'm not worthy" a la Wayne's World).

I would also like to say a great thanks to DeTroyes on the fanfiction.net site as well for giving me great story ideas for Part 3, Deeper's sequel. He has spent some time helping me find corrections that need to be made in Twilight Child (which will happen after Deeper is posted) and giving me a very good idea for the next story. Kudos, Kudos, Kudos!

I have really enjoyed becoming a part of the fanfiction community. I am making lots of friends here. Very exciting times!

Twilight Child Story Arc - Teen Titans Fanfic

I would like to say thank you to everyone who has read the "Twilight Child" fanfic on www.fanfiction.net. I had such a blast writing about characters that I have loved for so long!

I am planning multiple stories in this arc (4-5 at least) with several Other Characters, including the Charlie Thunder Horse that you met in this story. He will show up again.

The next story is called "Deeper" and should be out by late August. I do a lot of my writing on the weekends, but I am losing this next weekend as I am headed over to LibertyCon 18.

I would like to share one of my writing methods with you today: I listen to music while I am writing specific scenes to help produce the correct mood and pacing. They act as a kind of "soundtrack" to the story.

I got this idea while I was writing the desert chase scene in TC. I listened to Pink Floyd's "Run Like Hell" over and over and over again. The tempo of the music does sound to me like hoofbeats, desperate hoofbeats.

Not long after, I went to see Cheap Trick at the Riverbend music festival. Some of their songs served as fuel for other scenes and/or dialog: "Dream Police" and "The Flame" amongst others.

Another inspiring song was "Grace Like Rain" by Todd Agnew, which helped me create the soul-release at the end of the chase. For the last chapter, "In Your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel played quite a bit, along with "Midnight Blue" by Lou Gramm (I am such a child of the 80s). There was a little bit of Don Henley/Eagles in throughout the story as well: "Hole in the World" and "The Last Worthless Evening". And of course Maroon 5's "She Will Be Loved" is in there. I am trying to remember what else I listened to . . .

Here's some hints for the sequel's "soundtrack": some traditional Japanese drums (for tension), a lot of Def Leppard acoustical tracks (like the acoustic live version of "Hysteria", beautiful! and "Move With Me Slowly"), "Escape" by Sandra McCracken, "One Vision" and "I Want to Break Free" by Queen, "Enter Sandman" by Metallica (although that may be TOO intense for this particular story -- but I have always thought that if they did a movie version of TERROR OF TRIGON that that song should be in there. It gives any scene a very chilling feel.)

I do plan for "Deeper" to be a little more light-hearted than "Twilight Child", even though its main focus is not comedy.
